merry christmas again

hey guys....hope u all have found some peace and relaxation at home/wherever you are...

I thought this was pretty neat...who's brave enough to try it out?? :D

and.....we totally should've done this last term http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6n6jW0XIV0

Michelin Preview

Presentations in about 12 hours, here's a sneak peak at my delivery truck/wheel concept. I'm definitely loving this project and I'm anxious to see what everyone came up with. That and I just noticed Jon's wheel is a mini hadron collider.

Michelin Update

Still gotta do the brake calipers and suspension... Not to mention I need to finish the truck... One week left.

Auto Design Study update

Between the michelin project and auto design study, it's been alias all day long. Both are coming along quite nicely. In the words of Jose Casas "seeeeeeeeeck"

Michelin Concept (wheels aren't in this sketch)

Mid engined, turbo diesel, all wheel drive, single/tandem seating, large flat bed, tons of side/rear internal storage, wheel concept to come soon.

Michelin Project

This is my theme sketch for the michelin project, I've been going back and forth between directions for the past few weeks so I really just had to pick one and go with it. Having too much freedom to design isn't always a good thing.

Auto design study refinement

Narrowing down my design direction, my vehicle will have a silicone composite body structure that wraps into the wheels and flexes when cornering and for suspension travel so it will simplify the usual double wishbone suspension by reducing the overall weight and the number of moving parts, replacing the control arms, shock absorbers and coil springs.

Next Autoworks logo design competition

They already eliminated my logo design from the potential winners, the feedback that I got was that it was too edgy and they were looking for a softer, rounded logo. I still like it though.

Auto design study

Some sketches for my auto design study project which is a 2 person tandem vehicle that has a staggered track and tilting suspension design. I'm deciding between two directions, one that uses more of a modern suspension and another that uses flexible materials for the body sections that attach to the wheels.

Wanna make Michelin our WDC project? Yeah? Yeah.

Formula-1 Renault

OK. I definitely had fun but I am just as certain that I am totally clueless about aerodynamics.

Nanananana Batman!

I didn't start drawing cars until I got to CCS, but here's one from HS done with a #2 pencil. The first car I drew at CCS was also done with a #2 pencil on newsprint. Yeah, I really was that clueless.

old school: high school

The more vents, the better the design.

old school: elementary

Yes, planes with flame paint jobs, planes with missile and grapple hook extensions, and cargo planes being destroyed by lightning.

I was/am special...

F1 project update

Still in the refinement stage, this is 1 of 4 different design directions that I'm choosing from.
The main emphasis for all of them is aerodynamics and I moved both the driver's position and the engine forward a few inches and the ballast rearward where the engine used to be. Placing more of the car's mass in the front improves the aerodynamics by reducing drag and rear turbulence by giving the car a teardrop shaped footprint.

My hottest car from 03

I remember how proud I felt after adding in that awesome shading!  Let's not forget presentation either.  The subtle yellowed/dirty/vintage/wrinkled/vignette really complements the design I think.

Feel free to join in the embarrassment if you'd like.

F1 inspiration

This guy's doin it too, take a looksy

New Header 3

Does this one work better for you?

New Header 2

Clean and simple. Also, for this one we could periodically change the sketch.

I'm working out the details and all the spoilers...

New header 1

Does this one stoke your fire? haha, get it?
Big D in the background, and 5 points to whoever can guess the car.
This one is pretty dark and sinister, if I have some time I'll try one that's white and clean

Layout Design Challenge

Alright sooooo design a header that is 745 pixels wide and post it or email it to me or something and if it's good it will go up.

There's only so much you can do with the rest of the blog as far as aesthetics go. Although if you have a good idea for that or can create your own html or something then you are officially the new layout master cause I don't have the slightest clue how to do that lol.

Also, everyone needs to go into their settings and change their posting to the updated new style. It will allow for uniformly larger photos.

Start saving those pennies

Porsche just announced that they're going to make this baby in limited quantities

Sorry, just my perverted sense of humor...

LM Retro Future

Here is my entry for Local Motors Retro 27-32 competition. I guess Meadow Brook Concourse de'Elegance became mine main inspiration. I made it steam powered. Seems like a fun idea. After all this is a highly hypothetical proposition anyway. We are not in 1930's. You can see the entry on Local Motors website here: http://www.local-motors.com/entry.php?e=2598 . Of course you can vote as well if you so desire)))
Oh, I have couple more images on my blog at www.futurehungry.blogspot.com

F1 Project Stage 2: Sketching

Here's a couple initial proportion sketches that I did, my design probably won't look anything like these, but I wanted to get a feel for sketching F1 cars

Cool Project

I like the idea of a new project. Meanwhile I was thinking about a motorcycle ...again. I am reading a Sci-Fi book and wanted to design a bike for the main character to drive in hell. I have couple more sketches on my blog...

F1 Project Stage 1: Research

They could fill a book with all of the rules and regulations for F1 racing, but the main areas that I'm going to concentrate on are two of the latest and most significant changes:
The introduction of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems) and the permitted use of adjustable aerodynamics

Ok two things... One, this blog has basically just become Tim's blog (no offense intended Tim, I appreciate that someone is posting stuff on here!). So I'm proposing that we start a combined project to get things rolling for the fall semester. We have done motorcycles, robot animals and an architecture project but I don't think we have ever done an actual car project lol. So I think it would be cool if we all just start something. I'm pretty sure most of us are in Alias VisCom or w/e it's called so I think it would be cool to have a project rolling for that. I just think we could get a good portfolio piece if we combined it with a minor studio at school. Let me know your thoughts or if you have a better project idea!

The other thing is, I changed the layout of the blog a bit. You can now drag your images while editing them to make them larger. I think 500 pixels wide is a good standard.

Ok one more thing actually... Head over to We Draw Yachts (original I know..) It's the blog that Rafael Dos Santos, Jordan Recchia and I have for our yacht independent studio. It's basically where we are conducting class haha. Feel free to critique us if you want.

Needed a pic so I just got one of my favorite cars! haha

F1 project

I was going through my camera pics and I came across some of the Honda F1 project that CCS did a few years back and like usual, it ended up being just another styling exercise. There were 2 main things that seemed to thoroughly ignored: how the driver gets in and out of the car and that little thing called aerodynamics (minor details, right?). So, like any designer, I know that I can do a better job and have promptly started an F1 design project.

Jeep Concept

Jeep concept complete with kyle fenders. Anyone watch the world cup? I was cheering for ze germans, but congrats to Spain. Now I want to go play some soccer. I mean futbol.

Happy Birthday 'Murrica!

Redesigned a mustang for July 4th.

Made a few tweaks here and there (made it wider, raised rear end, cambered wheels, warped perspective on far side) , just slap some kyle fenders on it and it's done.

Tesla Supercar Concept

3D Alias model with a few touch ups in photoshop, I really wish I had Alias on my own computer so I could make a few tweaks to this, buuut I don't so I had to stick a fork in it and call it done.

Michelin Challenge Design 2011

This is the Vento concept, a vehicle that is designed for the midwest, more specifically its emphasis on utilizing wind energy. Anyone else enter the MCD?

Stumpy Paint

Stumpy the chocolate chip dinosaur? I wish I could sit around all day and do these, 40 hours or more of Alias a week can really burn you out. These are always a good change-up from the content at work. rawr.

kinda random sketch of a Marcos...
