Allllrighty then

Well, we're gonna open the summer 2009 project up again for suggestions. Jon and I decided that Machu Picchu is logistically unrealistic, for the amount of people and the 3d aspect of it (not everybody has the programs)

Anyway, sorry again for bad planning, but I'm hoping we can come up with an interesting brief and end up with a nice product in the 2 months left of summer. We were thinking something vehicle based, boats, construction vehicles, planes, whatever. Open to anything really. So if you have an idea of something you would like to design, post it!

New Machu Picchu terrain rev 2

Sorry guys, I know you all picked plots already, but I felt that the old terrain had some major problems (way too much slope in the land) also, the vastly different levels of the old terrain made it hard to see the whole layout at once, unless viewed from a birds eye view. Finally, we have some new members which will hopefully all be able to populate their area, so we needed more space (central plane has been enlarged). hope you all agree with these changes and don't mind repicking. Sorry if you started sketching already for your spot. anyway if your see your old spot you can have it again.

New Machu Picchu divide

A rough split? I guess first come first serve.

New Machu Picchu Terrain

I did this tonight, there are a few versions. It's not an exact replica of Machu Picchu, but it has the same general characteristics. My only concern now is that the slope may be too steep on the flat parts. What do you all think?

Utopia/Machu Picchu re-design

Ok so as you all know, we are doing an architecture project. Well Vaughan and I discussed what possible directions we should go and this is what we came up with. Its Machu Picchu, the last Incan city and its on top of an Andes mountain. Vaughan is going to build a model mountain in Z Brush and we are going to take a plot of land to design each. It would be nice to keep some of the Incan/Peruvian culture in mind... I'll leave the research up to ya'll but just know that they have some interesting architectural elements like the step farming on the sides of the mountain.

Anyways, start doing some research and sketching up ideas while Vaughan creates the mountain. I'll update this post or contact you all through facebook if anything changes.

utopia brainstorming

This is just a barf of ideas for how our utopia is structured.
mainly i was thinking a more organic system of roads (or rivers, with all transportation by boats), with channels being thicker near city center and spreading thin like veins towards rural/suburban areas.  if you think up any parameters or themes for utopia, barf them up!
